The 2011 edition of the ISTE ADE Photo Safari WILL occur in beautiful, historic downtown Philadelphia!!

Date: Sunday, June 26, 2011
Time: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

There is no charge for this photo safari…and first shot for registration goes to the ADE (Apple Distinguished Educator) family.

This is an ADE-initiated event and is our 3rd Annual Photo Safari at the ISTE Conference. The first two were The National Mall in Washington, D.C. and Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado and both were a huge success.

Many thanks to ADE Christine DiPaulo who has planned our tour route for the photo safari. Also, Dr. Chris Penny has been of inestimable value in helping to coordinate matters in Philly. My hat goes off to these two terrific ADEs.

Members of the ADE Photo Safari Leadership Team this year include:

  • Craig Nansen (“co-founder” of the photo safari idea!)
  • Larry Anderson (another co-founder)

  • John Maschak (Apple Canada)
  • Bob Williams (pro photographer…who went with us last year in Denver to RMNP)
  • Ty Richardson
  • Niki Peel (new ADE for 2011 — and from right here in Tupelo, MS — y’all are gonna LOVE Niki)
  • Katie Morrow
  • Kevin Morrow (also, new ADE for 2011)

We plan to convene at Old City Coffee (221 Church Street) (http://bit.ly/iiX4yq for the Google Map) Sunday morning at 9:00. After some orientation, we will divide into 4 teams and rotate through four sections of downtown selected by Christine and Chris.

At 3:00 PM, all teams will converge at Christ’s Church for an “inside the church” photo opportunity. That will wind up the official photo safari, but, of course, you’re welcome to stay and make as many photos as your heart desires.

You may want to ask Christine to send you the terrific Google Doc she has created that explains all the various points of interest our teams will pass during the tour. She has done an amazing job of compiling all this information for us. (That is one reason we ask for your Google account email address in the registration form—so we can share information like this.)

We plan to conclude the photo safari in time for you to return to your hotel room, freshen up, and attend the opening keynote session.

As you know, there will be an ADE “get-together” after the keynote at 8:00 PM at The Standard Tap (901 N. 2nd Street) (http://bit.ly/loZIAJ for the Google Map).

So, for all those who have joined us on past safaris, as well as any newcomers, grab your camera, pull on your walking shoes, and jump in with us for a day of fun, fellowship, and learning as we capture images of America’s history city!

Oh, by the way, we have a limit on enrollment, so don’t linger when the registration announcement comes up. We hate to turn away people, but we can’t handle a massive crowd.
